Northampton County Council member’s post calling Charlie Kirk a ‘monster’ under investigation by her employer, the Easton Area School District

The Easton Area School District says it is reviewing “deeply concerning” social media comments about slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk apparently posted by an employee who also serves on Northampton County Council.

Screenshots being widely shared across social media show a post attributed to Kelly Keegan, a school nursing supervisor who also represents District 2 on Northampton County Council, calling Kirk a “monster” and said his wife, children and the rest of the world are better off without him.

This post attributed to Northampton County Councilwoman Kelly Brauchle-Keegan, an Easton Area School District nurse coordinator, about conservative activist Charlie Kirk after his assassination is drawing fire.

The Morning Call could not immediately confirm the authenticity of the post, which has since been removed, and Keegan’s Facebook profile no longer appeared to be available. Keegan could not be reached for comment.

In an email to the school community Saturday, Easton Area schools Superintendent Tracy Piazza addressed “a deeply concerning social media post made by an individual associated with our school district regarding the recent passing of Charlie Kirk,” though she did not specifically name Keegan.

Piazza said the statements were “insensitive, without merit, and in conflict with all that we stand for as a district.”

“We will not condone or tolerate such behavior,” she wrote. “We are actively reviewing the situation and will take appropriate action in accordance with district policies and laws.”

Kirk was shot to death Wednesday as he spoke at an outdoor rally at Utah Valley University.

A 22-year-old Utah man, Tyler Robinson, has been charged in the killing, which prompted international condemnation but also a wave of social media comments suggesting Kirk deserved his fate because of his positions on gun rights, transgender rights and other topics.

In response, Kirk supporters on social media have been calling out people making insensitive comments about the conservative activist or even celebrating the assassination by alerting their employers.

Piazza said the post attributed to Keegan “stands in stark opposition to everything we teach and stand for as a district.

“While we recognize that, as individuals, we all have our own opinions and beliefs, as a district, we also believe that public statements that diminish the value of human life or are indifferent to the importance of family are without basis,” she wrote.

“I expect that all employees display respect and compassion, both in their professional roles and lives. Anything less is unacceptable and not representative of the conduct we expect from individuals associated with the Easton Area School District.”
