Beign-Yay!
Beignets & Brew opened on Sept. 17 in Virginia Beach, near Tidewater Community College.
The Florida-based chain features made-to-order New Orleans-style beignets (French doughnuts) and specialty coffee. The menu also includes a couple of breakfast sandwiches, smoothies and teas. Beer, wine and mimosas are coming soon to this location.
Joshua and Jennifer Moore, the franchise owners, are happy to introduce the cafe to the area. The general manager said it’s the first in the state and the 15th store for the Gulf Coast brand, which launched in 2023.
Its traditional beignets come close in taste to the airy ones at Cafe du Monde, in New Orleans, which famously has been making them since the 1800s. Beignets & Brew’s are doughier and smaller, though like the originals, they blanket faces and clothes with plenty of powdered sugar.

The sweetness doesn’t end there for Hampton Roads. The company plans to expand to Norfolk’s Ghent area soon. Look for updates on the company’s social media and website.
