A needless murder in Minneapolis | Letters to the editor

In the Trump regime, each day equals another tragedy, another death, another outrage, another fear, another deflection, another lie, another knife to the heart of American democracy.

Pray for Renee Nicole Good. Pray for America. Never forget Jan. 6, 2021.

A murder in Minneapolis

All of America and much of the world, thanks to video evidence, is a witness to a murder In Minneapolis.

The Department of Justice is required to thoroughly investigate the incident. Will it be open and transparent? Likely not, as long as Pam Bondi and Todd Blanche are in charge of the DOJ and Kash Patel remains FBI director.

An ICE agent shot a woman to death in cold blood. Within hours lies were flowing, predictably from a lawless and untrustworthy president and his dishonest DHS secretary, who blamed the victim in direct contradiction of video evidence.

The identical catastrophe could just as easily occur in any American community (this was the ninth ICE shooting since September). It’s because the President’s poorly trained goon squad is off the rails, using terror and punitive force against hundreds of thousands of men, women and children targeted to fill a quota for capture. Trump Inc. has turned the American dream into a perverse nightmare.

Kristi Noem is ‘full of it’

I watched as Homeland Security Secretary Krisit Noem, wearing her Tuff Girl cowboy hat, told us that the murdered woman was trying to run over ICE agents, and she put them in danger. After seeing the video multiple times, stopping at critical points, she’s full of it. The video proves it.

The first agent rapidly approaches the vehicle with the driver’s window open and tries to open it. The woman backs up and turns to the right, away from where the ICE agent standing on the left front of her car, and accelerates away from him. He fires multiple shots and kills her.

The agent was in no danger, as Noem stated.

None of these “trained” agents even checked to see if she was dead or needed help.

This is what you get when DHS lowers the standards of training.

These are supposed to be competently trained federal forces who carry guns, mandated to enforce Trump’s (and Stephen Miller’s) draconian immigration policy, while hiding behind masks like no legitimate American police do. They are supposed to be able to act correctly in dangerous situations like this. God save us from this descent into a police state where you must obey masked agents or be shot.

Stop vilifying ICE

The U.S. is a country ruled by laws.

Stop vilifying ICE agents as they look for criminal illegals in Minnesota and Oregon.

They are enforcing federal immigration laws. Peaceful protests are permitted, but violent rhetoric by state and local officials, amplified by the media, and with paid protesters, is reprehensible and helps fuel the violence. These state and local officials should be supportive of federal agents who are upholding federal immigration laws.

The thought police

Regarding the patently senseless, obviously intentional killing of a mother of three in Minneapolis, we are being coddled by the “thought police” in George Orwell’s famous novel, “1984.”

“Do not believe your eyes” is what this pack of narcissistic, authoritarian and deranged government actors keep telling us.

But the video, and our own eyes, cannot lie.

Only the spinmeisters hell-bent on creating a totalitarian superstate do.

When will we put a stop to the insanity?
