Advocates demand arrests after NYPD officers pelted with snowballs at West Village park

Law enforcement advocates are demanding arrests after NYPD police officers were filmed being repeatedly pelted with snow as they walked through a massive, pre-planned snowball fight in Washington Square Park on Monday.

Video uploaded to social media at 5:48 p.m. shows the officers being battered by snowballs outside the Washington Square Park Office and restrooms as dozens of parkgoers crowd around filming and jeering at the cops.

“F–king bitch,” one man can be heard screaming at the cops, while another yelled: “Get out of here.”

The pelting occurred amid a pre-planned snowball fight inside the West Village park following a blizzard that dumped nearly 20″ of snow in Central Park Sunday into Monday.

The NYPD did not respond to a request for comment, but multiple unions representing cops took to social media to demand that charges be filed against the cop’s snowball-hurling adversaries.

“The Detectives’ Endowment Association is calling on Mayor Mamdani and District Attorney (Alvin) Bragg to ensure every individual responsible for this illegal behavior is prosecuted. No free pass. No get out of jail free card,” DEA President Scott Munro stated.

The Police Benevolent Association, which represents more than 50,000 active and retired NYPD police officers, said the cops were treated for injuries following the incident. A spokesman for the PBA later clarified that at least two officers received facial injuries.

“Our police officers are being treated for their injuries, but the case CANNOT end there,” read the PBA’s statement on X. “The individuals involved must be identified, arrested and charged with assault on a police officer.”
