The Virginia Department of Transportation said Friday morning the James River Bridge was reopened after it had been closed for hours.
A malfunction caused the complete shutdown all north and southbound lanes to the bridge’s portion of Route 17, officials reported at the time.
This caused lengthy delays to motorists. A detour was established during the closure.
No additional details were immediately available.
