An Allentown man will spend decades in prison for raping a child over several years in Lehigh County, according to authorities.
Taron Dortch, 44, was sentenced Tuesday to 20 to 40 years in prison for sexually assaulting the victim between 2019 and 2021 in various locations around Lehigh County, District Attorney Gavin Holihan said in a news release.
Dortch, 44, was convicted in June after a three-day trial on charges of child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of someone younger than 13, corruption of minors and endangering child welfare.
He knew the victim through the child’s mother, the DA said. The assaults happened in multiple locations, including a home in Allentown and an apartment in South Whitehall Township, the release states. The victim was between the ages of 9 and 12 at the time.
Additionally, Dortch must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. County detectives charged him in May 2023.
He was also sentenced to six years of probation.
