An apartment building was left uninhabitable following a two-alarm fire in the early morning in Waterbury on Wednesday.
The fire broke out at a building at 215 Waterville St. around 2 a.m. when crews responded to the report that smoke was coming from a wall in a living room, according to the Waterbury Fire Department.
Firefighters activated a second alarm and had the fire under control within 1 ½ hours, fire officials said. According to the fire department, all eight apartment units were evacuated in the 2 ½ story building.
No injuries were reported.
All of the residents were relocated and are being assisted by the American Red Cross, fire officials said. It was not immediately clear how many tenants were in the building.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Waterbury Office of the Fire Marshal.
