At least five people shot Saturday night in CT incidents

Two people suffering from gunshot wounds were taken to the hospital late Saturday night in one Connecticut incident and three were hospitalized in a separate shooting incident that same night in another city, according to authorities.

In the first incident, three people are being treated with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting after police responded to the area of Barbour Street at Judson Street on a ShotSpotter notification just before 11 p.m., according to the Hartford Police Department.

Also Saturday night, at about 11:30 p.m., Norwich Police Department officers responded to Pistol Pete’s Bar & Grill, 29 Stonington Road, for a reported shooting, police said.

Two gunshot victims were located and taken to William W. Backus Hospital for evaluation and treatment; their injuries are not considered life-threatening, Norwich police said.

“During the investigation, officers located and seized a firearm and other evidence consistent with a shooting,” Norwich police said.

Keith Nival, 44, of Norwich “was located nearby and, following the investigation, was identified as [allegedly] being involved in the incident,” police said.

Nival, of 175 Broadway, Apt. 11, Norwich, is charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace.

Nival was processed at Norwich Police Headquarters and placed on a $250,000 cash/surety bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Norwich Superior Court, GA-21, on Oct. 2, police said.

In the Hartford case, police said that two of the gunfire victims, a male in his 20’s and a female in her 40’s, went to Hartford Hospital for treatment. A third victim, a man in his 50’s was treated at St. Francis Hospital.
