Attempted shooting in Hartford leads to pursuit on Route 9; two suspects in custody

Two people are in custody after an attempted shooting in Hartford led to a police chase involving state troopers which ended in Cromwell.

The suspects were apprehended after the vehicle they were in was chased by troopers on Route 9 before the vehicle came to a stop in Cromwell, according to Connecticut State Police.

They were not immediately identified.

According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department, the vehicle was being pursued after his agency put a be on the lookout alert out to area law enforcement.

Boisvert said the vehicle was believed to be tied to a shots fired incident in the 100 block of Nelson Street around 2:30 p.m. He described it as an attempted shooting.

Photos of the area where the pursuit ended showed a large presence of state police cruisers, which were mostly surrounding the median area of Route 9. One lane was closed between Exits 24 and 25 while police investigated, according to the state Department of Transportation.
