Battle of the Beers returns to Virginia Beach for its 13th year to aid charities

Hoppy endings are closer than you think.

The 13th annual 757 Battle of the Beers takes place Saturday at the Virginia NationalGuard’s State Military Reservation in Virginia Beach.

More than 40 brewers will come together to compete for their favorite charity. This includes Alewerks Brewing (Williamsburg), Caiseal Beer & Spirits (Hampton) and Vibrant Shore Brewing (Virginia Beach). Taste more than 80 beers and get a souvenir glass, a sampling guide and a $5 voucher toward a meal at one of the food trucks.

Attendees also can vote for the People’s Choice award. Last year, Afterglow Brewing took home the award for its Mother Fluffer, a peach, pineapple and marshmallow sour.

Beach Ambassadors, the host of this event in partnership with Veer Magazine and Virginia Craft Beer Magazine, will also award winners in the Brewer’s Choice and Battle of the Brewers categories.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Participate in cornhole and beer pong, and bid on silent auction items such as local art and gift certificates from restaurants.

Tickets are $75 online, $85 at the gate, $25 for nondrinkers. The event benefits St. Mary’s Home, Hope House Foundation and the brewers’ charity of choice.
