A Bethlehem man faces a sentence of decades in prison after a Lehigh County jury convicted him of sexually assaulting a child between 2013 and 2017, according to authorities.
Ronald Haberstumpf, 78, was found guilty Tuesday on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, unlawful contact of a minor, indecent assault of someone younger than 13, corruption of minors, and endangering child welfare, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan.
Haberstumpf was found guilty on all charges following a one-day trial. The charges are all felonies.
He repeatedly sexually assaulted the victim in a Bethlehem home while the victim was between the ages of 4 and 8, the DA said in a news release. Haberstumpf knew the victim.
The DA said he faces a sentence of between 50 and 101 years in prison, and he will be required to register as a sex offender.
Bethlehem police initially charged Haberstumpf in June 2024. He has been in Lehigh County Jail on bail since his arrest then, according to court records. His bail was revoked following his conviction.
Sentencing is scheduled for December.
