Taylen Blaylock burned the William & Mary Tribe early and he burned them late. The Furman safety’s big plays bookended a 23-21 win over the Tribe on Saturday at Paladin Stadium in the season-opener for both.
The defeat was a rare one against an FCS non-conference opponent for the Tribe (0-1), who entered having won 44 of 46 such games in the regular season. But, after digging their way out of a hole the result of early mistakes, the Tribe were overtaken by Ian Williams’ three late field goals and the Blaylock-led defense that denied the rock solid down the stretch.
