Car crashes into Lower Macungie home, sparking 2-alarm fire [PHOTOS]

A fire went to two alarms Thursday evening in Lower Macungie Township after a car crashed into a house.

The crash and fire were reported around 5:48 p.m. in the 6100 block of Sauterne Drive, according to the Emergency Alerts of Lehigh County Facebook page.

A second-alarm was struck a short time later. Around 6 p.m., all firefighters were ordered to evacuate the house.

Photos taken by a freelance photographer showed a large section of the roof had caved in as firefighters continued to battle flames and smoke. The charred remains of the car were seen entirely inside of the house.

No details were immediately available Thursday night on what caused the crash.
