Chance of snow in Hampton Roads on Monday have increased

The chance of snow Monday in Hampton Roads has increased according to a briefing Sunday morning by the National Weather Service in Wakefield.

A cold front is expected Sunday night and with cold air coming into the area Monday morning, this increases the chances for snow in the area. It is also expected to be very cold Monday night, so any snow that accumulates will remain on the ground and roads, according to the Wakefield briefing. The probability of 1 inch of snow on Monday is 31% in Virginia Beach and 52% in Newport News. This is an increase from Saturday’s forecast where the odds of snow in Virginia Beach were 24% and 35% in Newport News.

The chance of 2 or more inches of snow in Virginia Beach is 15% and 30% in Newport News.

Snow is most likely to fall in Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Portsmouth beginning at noon and it’s predicted to start in Hampton and Newport News at 9 a.m.
