Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel southbound traffic stopped after crash

A tractor trailer was in a single vehicle accident, near the North Channel Bridge of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, causing southbound traffic to stop, according to a news release from the CBBT spokesperson.

At about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the tractor trailer went overboard, just south of Fisherman’s Island. This caused guardrail and curb damage to the CBBT and maintenance crews are making emergency repairs, with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard. There are delays while the scene is being cleared, but southbound traffic is expected to reopen at 8:45 a.m.

The spokesperson did not provide any information on anyone involved in the accident.
