Chesapeake Regional opens new urgent care outpatient facility

CHESAPEAKE — A new Chesapeake Regional Hospital outpatient facility for urgent care opened at the corner of Battlefield Boulevard and Hanbury Road.

The facility will offer walk-in medical services seven days a week for urgent care. The facility, at 1034 Battlefield Blvd. South, is open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Urgent care services are aimed at patients with non-critical concerns who need immediate care.

The facility is in the same building where MRI, CT and other scans take place, including X-rays and ultrasounds. The diagnostics clinic operates Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Both clinics accept most major insurances.

Jeff Kingery, Chief Physician Relations Officer, said in a news release that the facility will ease the strain on the emergency department.

“The opening of this urgent care facility demonstrates our commitment to the patients we serve by delivering accessible, high-quality care close to home,” Kingery said. “We are expanding convenient options for our patients to break down access barriers to health care.”

The urgent care will also feature an “On My Way” feature that will allow patients to virtually check-in and “get in line” for quicker care.

But the expansion also benefits North Carolina, said Amber Egyud, chief operating & nursing officer.

“Opening this new outpatient facility will allow us to further expand access to imaging for southern Chesapeake and Northeast North Carolina,” Egyud said. “It will join Chesapeake Regional Healthcare’s efforts to grow our reach to patients living in rural areas who may have a difficult time finding health care.”
