5 things to watch for plus our predictions

Bears coach Ben Johnson has a healthy respect for what counterpart John Harbaugh has done with the Ravens over the last 18 years. He’s not fooled by the Ravens’ 1-5 start.
“Their record really doesn’t indicate what they are capable of doing,” Johnson said. “They can put up points in bunches and this defense is always, since Harbaugh has been there, has always found a way to respond.”
The Ravens are looking to respond this week with their playoffs hopes looking dire. Read more here.

Ravens list QB Lamar Jackson as questionable — with Tyler Huntley on call

The Ravens have ruled two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson out for Sunday’s game. The Ravens signed practice squad quarterback Tyler Huntley to the 53-man roster and the expectation is that Huntley will start.
The Ravens initially said that Jackson was a full participant in Friday’s practice, but on Saturday, they downgraded his Friday practice status to limited and ruled him out for the game. This will be the third consecutive game that Jackson has missed since injuring his hamstring in late September. Read more here.

Is rookie Colston Loveland ready for a breakout?
The blocking has been a plus, but Colston Loveland is still looking to fulfill his enormous potential as a pass catcher — part of what attracted the Bears when they drafted him with the No. 10 pick in April.
Kmet has been ruled out for Sunday’s road game — ending a streak of 90 consecutive games played since the Bears drafted him in the second round in 2020 — so it would seem Loveland’s chance at the spotlight comes now.
“Whatever I get asked to do, I’m going to go out there and do it, whether that’s run a bunch of routes, whether that’s run block, pass pro, whatever,” Loveland told the Tribune. “I’m not worried about it, as long as we keep stacking wins.” Read more here.

Kevin Byard ‘exemplifies all of it’ for Bears

Safety Kevin Byard enters Week 8 tied for the league lead with four interceptions, an integral part of the takeaway train the Bears have been riding during their four-game winning streak.
While many veterans are clearly fading in their 10th season, the 32-year-old Byard looks like he has rediscovered his prime under defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.
“Normally you think those guys start to lose a step at some point,” coach Ben Johnson said. “But that has not been the case.”
To say this season has been invigorating for Byard probably would be an understatement. Read more here.
