Chuck Goudie buys Tudor-style Burr Ridge house for $2.42M

Chuck Goudie, the award-winning Chicago television investigative reporter who in February joined WMAQ-Channel 5 after a distinguished, 44-year career at rival station WLS-Channel 7, in August paid $2.425 million in an off-market deal for a 1.5-story, four-bedroom Tudor-style house in Burr Ridge.

Goudie, 69, joined ABC 7 in 1980 and became its lead investigative reporter in 1990, winning numerous awards for his investigations into the Chicago Outfit, political corruption, Mexican cartels and the “Licenses for Bribes” scandal. After signing on at NBC 5 in February, he made a splash in May with a ratings-sweeps expose revealing that the federal law enforcement consensus is that the killer of infamous Outfit boss Sam Giancana, who was slain in his Oak Park basement kitchen in June 1975, was the late and longtime Outfit kingpin Anthony Accardo.

Last year, Goudie sold his longtime, six-bedroom, 6,204-square-foot French chateau-style mansion in Hinsdale for $4.05 million. He and his late wife, Teri, who died in 2022, had built that house after buying the homesite in 2005.

After selling his Hinsdale home, Goudie rented for a time in an Oak Brook apartment building. Now, Goudie, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment, has set down some new roots in Burr Ridge.

Built in 1979, the house has 3-1/2 bathrooms, two fireplaces, detailed millwork, an all white chef’s kitchen with high-end appliances and a breakfast nook, a primary bedroom suite with vaulted ceilings and large walk-in closets, newly installed hardwood flooring, designer light fixtures, custom California closets, custom glass shelving, rekeyed hardware and a finished lower level that currently is used as a rec room. The house also has an upgraded walk-in pantry, an attached two-car garage and a private patio.

The house had a $25,567 property tax bill in the 2024 tax year, and it also comes with $585-a-month homeowners association dues.
