Week 10 provided plenty of playoff drama as well as record-setting performances.
There also were some notable efforts throughout the Colonial-Schuylkill League’s final weekend as a co-op:
— Lucas Croizier became Lehighton’s first 1,000-yard rusher since 2017 after helping the Indians win the 209 Trophy by running for 209 yards against Jim Thorpe.
— Marian Catholic junior Rory Dixon reached 1,000 rushing yards and 100 points for the third year in a row after gaining 218 yards and scoring a touchdown in a victory over Nativity BVM.
— Teammate Jake Tom’s 27-yard interception return for a TD was the Colts’ eighth defensive score this season.
— Catasauqua’s Tray Dunn climbed two spots to No. 7 among area rushing leaders with 143 yards in a victory over Palmerton.
— Panther Valley’s Gavin Yuricheck became the program’s first 500-yard receiver since 2018. If Chase McArdle can gain 49 receiving yards in Thursday’s District 11 Class 3A playoff game against North Schuylkill, he and Yuricheck will be the first Panthers with at least 500 receiving yards in the same season since Brad Miller and Fenton Black in 1992.
— Teammate Brody Breiner is 85 rushing yards shy of having 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 passing yards in the same season. He would be the first in program history to do so. The senior is the first 1,000-yard passer at Panther Valley since 2016 and has thrown for the most yards since 2009.
— Northern Lehigh’s Colin Karetsky moved up 12 spots to No. 8 among the receptions leaders after catching 10 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown last Friday against Saucon Valley.
— Teammate Bill Slattery took over the lead with his seven sacks. Panther Valley’s Marco Tessitore claimed the top spot with 17 tackles for loss.
Record-setting performers
— Southern Lehigh’s Colton Sams threw for 217 yards and four touchdowns against Northwestern Lehigh. He passed Travis Edmond for the program’s career passing yardage record with 5,398 and counting. He also has a school-record 67 career TD passes.
— Palisades’ duo of Jack Trickel and Lincoln Cook are rewriting the school record book. Trickel has the records for: single-season passing yards (1,919), single-game yardage (361), career passing yardage (3,756) and career completions (291).
Cook has school records for receptions (65) and receiving yardage (1,054) in a season, plus the career receptions (127) and receiving yardage (1,774) marks. He is five touchdown catches shy of the career record of 20.
— Saucon Valley’s Thomas Cahill has the District 11 freshman records for catches (67) and receiving yards (924). He is one touchdown catch shy of the freshman record (9). His 67 catches also broke Jack Robertson’s school single-season mark of 62. Cahill needs 65 yards to break Robertson’s single-season record.
Panthers teammate Jared Rohn has 126 completions this year, beating Rob Kessler’s school mark (119) set in 2008. He is 400 yards shy of breaking Kessler’s single-season passing yardage record (2,136).
— Northwestern Lehigh’s Mason Bollinger has the school’s career receptions record of 101. He is 22 yards shy of the career receiving yardage mark (1,601).
— Lehighton’s Blake Roberts broke Zach Hunsicker’s program record for receptions with five catches for 76 yards in last Friday’s win over Jim Thorpe. He has 117 entering the postseason.
— Matt Bodnar (6,849 yards, 75 TDs) is second in Notre Dame-Green Pond history to Cole DeFranco (9,904 and 99 from 2016-18) in career passing yards and passing touchdowns, respectively.
