Cops: Accused Orlando Airport dog killer can’t be found

A woman accused of drowning her dog at the Orlando International Airport appears to have gone missing after deputies showed up at her house to arrest her and were told she hadn’t lived there in months.

Alison Agatha Lawrence, 57, of Clermont, is accused by Orlando police of killing a 9-year-old white miniature Schnauzer named Tywinn in an airport bathroom Dec. 16 because she couldn’t take the dog on a flight to Colombia, according to arrest records.

She was first arrested by the sheriff’s office at her Clermont home in March and was released on bond, but a judge ordered her arrest again on Sept. 5 when she failed to appear at a court hearing in her ongoing criminal case.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson said Monday that when deputies recently went to Lawrence’s home to arrest her, a resident told them Lawrence doesn’t live there. The resident said they hadn’t spoken to Lawrence in months and didn’t know where she is.

Lawrence’s attorney, Javier Chavez, didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment last week. A court filing from the day the judge ordered Lawrence’s arrest shows Chavez asked the court if he could withdraw as her attorney. He cited several reasons, including irreconcilable differences and that Lawrence hadn’t maintained contact as required.

According to Lawrence’s original arrest warrant affidavit, surveillance footage shows Lawrence walking with Tywinn to the bathroom and later exiting the bathroom without the dog. An airport employee later discovered Tywinn in a trash bag inside the bathroom.

The affidavit said police found other items in the bag next to the dog’s body, including a dog tag with Lawrence’s name and phone number on it. A necropsy ruled cause of death as drowning/submersion into water, according to court records.
