Because of incorrect information provided to The Virginian-Pilot and Daily Press, a story on Wednesday’s Page 1 (“Housing projects could be first with tax rebate grant”) incorrectly stated that to be eligible for the grant, 20% or more of a project’s residential units must be affordable at or below 50% of the area median income. To be eligible for the grant, a project’s residential units must be affordable at or below 80% of the area median Income. There is also an incentive for market-rate, mixed-income projects that provide 20% or more of a project’s residential units that are affordable at or below 50% of the AMI. Also, the rebate amounts are an estimate.
