Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at a plaza in Waterbury on Friday which left a restaurant with heavy damage.
Crews responded to the “strip mall-style” plaza at 104 Store Ave. around 9 a.m. and found heavy fire, according to the Waterbury Fire Department.
The blaze prompted a third alarm, and mutual aid from area departments provided station coverage while crews battled the fire, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported.
Photos from the scene showed heavy flames on the roof of Bailey’s Bar and Grill, one of several businesses in the plaza. Fire officials said the roof collapsed after units initially entered the building.
The restaurant sustained heavy damages. Another business in the plaza sustained smoke damage.
The fire had been brought under control less than 1½ hours after crews received the initial report, fire officials said.
Additional information was not immediately available.
