CT man accused of ditching stolen firearm following police pursuit, foot chase

A man faces a number of drug and firearm charges after he allegedly eluded troopers who tried to pull him over in Vernon last Friday, hours before state police found him in Manchester.

Dylan M. Scott, 27, of Manchester faces charges of reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, possession with intent to sell a hallucinogen, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a large capacity magazine, stealing a firearm, interfering with police, fifth-degree larceny, criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree reckless endangerment, use of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle without a license and multiple other motor vehicle offenses, according to Connecticut State Police.

The arrest came after troopers tried pulling over the driver of a dark gray Acura TL with Massachusetts plates just before 11 a.m. on Baker Road in the area of Reservoir Road, state police said. The driver refused to stop and was last seen on South Frontage Road.

Just before 1:20 p.m., troopers found the vehicle they believe was involved in the earlier incident in a driveway on Moore Street in Manchester, state police said. Troopers made contact with Scott and allegedly that he was identified as the driver who refused to pull over, according to state police.

Scott took off on foot and allegedly threw a firearm in a trashcan as he was being chased, state police said. Troopers were assisted by the Manchester Police Department in setting up a perimeter around the area. A K-9 Unit also began conducting a track, which led to authorities finding Scott under a deck of a residence on McKee Street, state police said.

Scott was taken into custody and arrested. The firearm troopers believe he ditched was identified as a Taurus 9mm G3-C handgun, which was found to be reported stolen from North Carolina and equipped with a 12-round magazine, state police said.

The criminal information summary supporting the arrest did not include any additional information about the drug charges Scott faces. He was released after posting a $500,000 bond and is expected to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 17.
