A man faces charges for allegedly threatening to shoot someone who confronted him at a beach parking lot in Norwalk on Thursday, leading to the discovery of more than four pounds of marijuana.

Alexander Freedman, 37, of Norwalk has been charged with second-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession with intent to sell one kilogram or more of a cannabis substance, sale of one kilogram or more of a cannabis substance, use of drug paraphernalia, violation of restricted substances, reckless driving and failure to renew registration, according to Lt. Patrol officers responded to the area and began searching for the suspect’s vehicle, which was said to be a BMW X1, according to Podgorski. Police stopped the vehicle when it was spotted on Canfield Avenue and identified the driver as Freedman, Podgorski said. He was detained while police investigated.

Several witnesses told officers Freedman was allegedly speeding, driving recklessly and performing donuts in the beach parking lot, according to Podgorski. When an individual confronted him, Freedman allegedly threatened to shoot him with a gun he said he had in his vehicle, Podgorski said.

Police searched Freedman’s vehicle and allegedly discovered several vape cartridges, a glass jar of liquid hashish and multiple jars and bags containing marijuana, which weighed a total of about 4.8 pounds, according to Podgorski. Officers also found a metal impact weapon in the vehicle.

Freedman was arrested at the scene. Podgorski said his bond was set at $125,000 and he is expected to face a judge on Nov. 6.
