A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman in Groton last week, leaving her seriously injured following an attack police say happened with an infant present.
Police responded to an unspecified location on Friday at 5:08 p.m. on the report of a disturbance and found a woman suffering from “significant trauma” to her head, face and eyes, according to the Groton Town Police Department.
Police said they investigated and found that 33-year-old Tai T. Tang had allegedly punched the woman multiple times. According to police, an infant was present during the attack.
The woman was taken to a hospital and treated for her injuries, police said. She has since been released.
Tang was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor, second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer. Police said he was charged with interfering for allegedly resisting officers who took him to the police department.
Tang was held on a $50,000 bond and was expected to be arraigned Monday in New London Superior Court.
