A Bridgeport man has been charged in connection with a 2025 home invasion where armed suspects allegedly went through the residence and stole valuables, including watches and jewelry.
Hipolito Rodriguez, 52, of Bridgeport was arrested Thursday on charges of home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, according to the Shelton Police Department.
Officers responded to a residence in the area of Sunnyside School on Feb. 14, 2025, on a report of a home invasion where two masked suspects armed with hand guns allegedly entered the residence and demanded a “large sum of money” from the homeowners, police said.
According to police, the homeowners were allegedly held at gunpoint for hours while the suspects went through the residence and removed valuables including watches and jewelry.
During the investigation, the Shelton Police Department’s Detective Bureau obtained surveillance footage of the suspects vehicle, which matched a vehicle that was reported stolen in a similar incident just days earlier in Bridgeport, police said.
Detectives from Bridgeport and Shelton Police Departments developed Rodriguez as a suspect in both incidents. While conducting followup interviews, detectives allegedly discovered that items matching the description of ones that were stolen were sold for scrap at a local jeweler, according to police.
Detectives were also able to recover a majority of the Shelton homeowners’ jewelry in a storage unit rented by a family member of Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was processed and charged on Thursday at Derby Superior Court and was being held on a $350,000 bond. He is currently in custody of the Department of Corrections.
Police said the investigation is ongoing with additional arrests expected.
