A man is in critical condition after the vehicle he was driving crashed into an apartment building in Waterbury on Sunday.
Officers responded to 954 Woodtick Road just before 5:20 p.m. on the report of a car into the building and found that a Nissan Sentra had struck an apartment, according to Sgt. Joseph Morais of the Waterbury Police Department.
The driver, a 36-year-old Waterbury man, was taken to an area hospital where his head injuries were found to be life-threatening, Morais said. He was listed in “serious, critical condition” as of early Monday, according to Morais.
No one else was found in the vehicle.
Building inspectors who responded to the scene found that the structure was “sound” and that its integrity was not compromised from the crash, Morais said. No other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation by the police department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 203-346-3975 or the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line at 203-755-1234.
