A man is in critical condition after the motorcycle he was riding struck a tree in Bridgeport on Monday.
The crash occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Briarwood Avenue and emergency crews responded on the report of a motorcycle that collided with a tree, leaving the operator unresponsive on the ground, according to Sgt. Darryl Wilson of the Bridgeport Police Department.
Wilson said police, firefighters and medics responded and began tending to the victim, who was identified as a 32-year-old Bridgeport man who suffered serious injuries. He was taken in an ambulance to St. Vincent’s Medical Center and listed in critical condition, according to Wilson.
The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team responded to the scene to investigate. Wilson said a preliminary investigation found that the man was riding a 2021 blue Hawk Z7185 motorcycle south on Briarwood Avenue when the bike drifted to the right, scraped the curb and struck a tree.
The crash remains under investigation by the Bridgeport Police Traffic Division.
