CT pizzeria announces its closing. It was in the community for almost 5 decades

A Connecticut pizzeria has announced its closing after serving the community for nearly five decades.

Mike’s Pizza Palace in Naugatuck announced its closing on Facebook recently.

“The building is being sold, and like many small businesses, we’ve faced some tough challenges that made this day come much sooner than we hoped,” the owners said. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who’s supported Mike’s Pizza through the years. Generations of families, loyal customers, teams, and friends who’ve made this place feel like home. We’ve shared a lot of memories, laughs, and late night pizzas, and we’re grateful for every one of them.”

To its loyal customers, Mike’s said it isn’t goodbye.

“This isn’t goodbye, it’s just see you later. We’re hopeful to reopen somewhere new and continue serving the community that’s been so good to us,” the owners said.

Upon the announcement of its closing, customers commented remembering fond memories at the pizzeria.

“My first memories of Pizza are from Mike’s. Going in with my father 50 years ago, drinking a soda at the counter while waiting for a Mike’s Special and a Cheese,” one customer wrote.

“I hope this is just a break and not the end. I often did not call in my order just so I could hang out with the crew. I’ve been ordering pizza there for as long as I can remember. Back in the day, our whole clan ordered pizza from Mike’s, so I couldn’t use my last name! Selfishly, I hope to see you soon, but in today’s economy, you do what is best for you. You’ve made a positive impact on many lives, and that’s surely a legacy in itself. Thank you,” another customer said.

In response to customers, Mike’s owners said they cannot thank the community enough for the “kindness, memories, and love you’ve shared since the closing.”

“It’s been a really hard time, especially for George, but reading your messages and stories has truly lifted his spirits. He loves hearing how much Mike’s meant to everyone — it reminds us how special this community is. We miss you all deeply and are so grateful for your support,” they said.
