A Danielson woman was arrested on DUI charges after allegedly driving the wrong way on Route 6 in Killingly and striking a state police cruiser as a trooper attempted to stop her.

Sgt. Russell Cote was eastbound on Route 6 in the left lane of two approaching the intersection with Route 12 when he allegedly observed a Hyundai Sonata traveling westbound in the eastbound lane around 10:03 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Connecticut State Police.

Cote activated the cruiser’s emergency lighting and stopped his cruiser in the lane of travel. According to state police, the wrong way driver appeared to be slowing and stopping.

As the Hyundai approached Cote’s cruiser, the driver allegedly attempted to drive around the drivers’ side of the cruiser and struck the front driver’s side fender and bumper area causing damage to both vehicles, state police said.
