CT woman extricated from vehicle, taken to hospital following rollover crash involving utility pole

A woman was extricated from a vehicle that reportedly rolled over and struck a utility pole in North Haven on Wednesday.

Crews responded to a report of the crash in the area of 1700 Hartford Turnpike just before 9:20 p.m. and found the vehicle on its side with the driver suspended by her seatbelt in need of rescue, according to the North Haven Fire Department.

Fire officials said that the pole was cracked in half and being held in place on the vehicle, creating an electrical hazard. Crews stabilized the vehicle and rescued the trapped driver, according to fire officials.

The woman was taken in an ambulance to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The road was expected to be closed overnight while repairs were made to the pole.
