DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) — Former Parkland star Nick Coval made his collegiate debut Monday night, helping Davidson to a 97-63 win over Division-III DeSales.
The Bulldogs, coached by Coval’s father, Scott Coval, feature several of Nick Coval’s former Trojans teammates and other players from the Lehigh Valley.
Coval, a redshirt freshman and Parkland’s all-time leading scorer, started for the Wildcats and had seven points, four rebounds and an assist.
Former Notre Dame-Green Pond standout Brendan Boyle led DeSales with 17 points. Parkland grads Robbie Ruisch and Jayden Thomas scored five and four points, respectively. Thomas led the Bulldogs with six rebounds and three assists. Whitehall’s Luke Keppel had eight points and two steals. Bethlehem Catholic grad Ryan Glassmacher had five points and a rebound.
Hunter Adam led Davidson with 18 points while RJ Greer (13) and Manie Joses (11) also reached double figures.
The Bulldogs rallied after falling behind 6-0 in the game’s first two minutes to tie the game at 19-19 at the 11:45 mark on a jumper by Thomas. Davidson then outscored the Bulldogs 30-11 to take a 49-30 lead into halftime.
Davidson extended its lead to 94-55 during the second half, fueled by an 18-2 run.
