A man was shot to death Sunday evening in a residential neighborhood on the edge of New London’s downtown.
Detectives are trying to piece together what happened and have not released the victim’s name and age or other details.
Patrol officers were called to Connecticut Avenue between Prest and McDonald streets around 7:20 p.m. and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
“Officers immediately rendered medical aid on scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival,” police said in a statement.
At least one police dog was brought in to help search for the shooter, investigators closed off several blocks for part of the night while they looked for evidence. The location is just a few blocks southwest of the center of downtown, and only a little more than a half-mile from the Garde Arts Center.
