A developer that is building the Neuweiler Lofts appears to have obtained additional land in the developing area along Allentown’s riverfront.
Two adjoining parcels along North Front Street and Riverside Drive were sold in September to LRDC VIII and LRDC VII, respectively, according to Lehigh County property records.
The address for the two limited liability companies is 207 N. Front St., which is the Riverfront Lofts apartments. That building is owned by Urban Residential Properties, which is not only converting the former Neuweiler Brewery into a mixed-use development, but has also proposed redeveloping the site of the former American Atelier furniture factory into a 16-story apartment building. Both of those properties are also on Front Street.
A representative from Urban Residential was not immediately available for comment.
The 1.5-acre parcel at 51-97 N. Front is adjacent to the America on Wheels car museum and contains a paved lot used for overflow parking. It was sold by Lehigh Landing Two LLC for $1.75 million.
The land was originally part of the Arbogast & Bastian complex, a slaughterhouse and meat packing plant that operated there from 1887 to 1985. Most of the complex was demolished, but a part was preserved and incorporated into the America on Wheels building.
The second parcel, at 115-149 Riverside Drive, which was sold for $2 million by Lehigh Landings One, is across Wharf Street from the other parcel.
The 2-acre plot borders Buck Boyle Park on its north side.
Neither of these parcels are inside Allentown’s Neighborhood Improvement Zone, the city’s one-of-a-kind tax subsidy zone.
