Disney Cruise Line delays new ship Disney Adventure’s debut 3 months

Disney Cruise Line has delayed the launch of one of two ships it had planned to debut later this year, citing “unexpected delays” in the shipbuilding process.

The Disney Adventure, which was expected to sail out of Singapore for the first time in December, will now celebrate its maiden voyage on March 10, 2026. All voyages scheduled from Dec. 15-March 12, 2026, will be canceled and effected guests will have options to rebook at a future date.

Disney Destiny, though, is still set to sail on time with its debut from Port Everglades in November.

“As we work on the final touches to bring the Disney Adventure to our guests, we’ve encountered unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process,” said Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences, in an emailed statement. “To ensure the experience we deliver reflects our commitment to excellence, we’ve made the decision to adjust our timeline. We know this may be disappointing to our guests, and we’re working directly with them to offer flexible rebooking options and uphold the trust they place in us.”

This Disney Adventure started as the partially-built Global Dream, a ship originally ordered by Genting Hong Kong, a now-bankrupt Chinese holding company that owned several cruise lines. Star Cruises was the original line that planed to sail this ship until Disney Cruise Line purchased the partially-built ship in 2022.

The vessel, the first in Disney’s Global class, will be the cruise line’s eighth and largest ship at 208,000 gross tons with room for more than 6,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members. The Disney Adventure will sail three- and four-night itineraries in the South China Ssea.

Guests who were booked on the original maiden voyage can sail on the new maiden voyage at a 50% discount. Those guests will automatically be rebooked or can opt to cash in the 50% discount on a future cruise. Maiden voyage guests can also request a refund if unable to sail the new dates.

Passengers booked on other affected sailings will automatically receive a full refund and will be offered 50% off a future Disney Cruise Line sailing, which must be booked by March 31, 2026, for a sailing on or before March 31, 2027. The same rules apply for maiden voyage guests wishing to use their future cruise discount.
