MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins center Aaron Brewer’s iron-man streak is over.
Brewer, who entered Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers questionable with a neck injury, was ruled out as he was announced among Dolphins inactive players 90 minutes before the 1 p.m. kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium.
Brewer had a streak of 66 consecutive starts and 75 consecutive games played snapped. He had made his previous 15 starts with Miami this season and all 17 in 2024. The streak extended through the 2023 and 2022 seasons with the Tennessee Titans and he played the final nine games of 2021 with Tennessee, which took him as an undrafted player in 2020.
Without Brewer, second-year reserve offensive lineman Andrew Meyer made his first NFL start and played in his first game after making the Dolphins’ roster in 2024 as an undrafted rookie.
Meyer lined up as the starting center in pregame warmups Sunday and then was announced as a starter running out of the tunnel before kickoff. He appeared to handle his responsibilities fine but had a holding penalty called against him.
“Andrew is a, for sure, starter in this league. One day, he will be,” Brewer said Friday. “I’m probably the biggest Andrew Meyer fan. … I just see how he approaches work, his mentality. He’s a great guy, great center, great teammate.”
Meyer did not play a snap last season and he had been on injured reserve for a triceps ailment for the first 15 games of 2025 before his Saturday activation off IR.
Dolphins linebacker Tyrel Dodson was active and started after he entered Sunday questionable with a chest injury.
Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was ruled out Friday due to his calf injury. Other Dolphins inactives were quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who was available as an emergency third quarterback behind Quinn Ewers and Zach Wilson, wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, tackle Kendall Lamm and outside linebacker Derrick McLendon.
McLendon was a healthy scratch after being elevated to the game-day roster from the practice squad Saturday.
Westbrook-Ikhine, who was a free-agent pickup of Miami in the offseason, is a healthy inactive for a second consecutive game.
Concussion for Robinson
Dolphins second-year outside linebacker Chop Robinson suffered a concussion in Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.
Late in the first half, Robinson went into the Dolphins’ sideline injury tent and then walked into the locker room after evaluation.
Originally deemed questionable to return, Robinson was downgraded to out at halftime.
Miami wide receiver Jaylen Waddle also missed snaps momentarily as he hurt his ribs but returned in the second half.
2026 schedule
The NFL’s Saturday slate settled two more games toward the Dolphins’ 2026 schedule.
Miami is officially bound to play a road game against the Indianapolis Colts and a home game against the Cincinnati Bengals next season.
That’s because both the Colts and Bengals will now finish third, respectively, in the AFC South and North after Saturday wins by the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens. The Dolphins, locked into No. 3 in the AFC East, play the third-place finisher in each of those two divisions.
The one other pairing left to be determined on the 2026 schedule is the No. 3 team in the NFC West, with the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams still alive for such a finish.
The Dolphins are bound to play the entire AFC West (vs. Kansas City, vs. L.A. Chargers, at Las Vegas, at Denver) and NFC North (vs. Chicago, vs. Detroit, at Minnesota, at Green Bay), along with home and away against the three division rivals in the Bills, Patriots and Jets.
