Dolphins expect Tua to be OK for Ravens game, Duck done for season; no season ticket price increase

MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, whose left eye was swollen shut when he awoke Sunday morning before playing his best game of the season in a 34-10 win at Atlanta, should be OK this week for Thursday’s game against Baltimore, according to coach Mike McDaniel.

However, cornerback Storm Duck (knee), a projected starter entering the season who was seeing his first action since sustaining an ankle injury in the opener at Indianapolis, is out for the year, McDaniel said.

In other injury news, wide receiver/kickoff returner Dee Eskridge (shoulder) is day to day, and safety Ashtyn Davis (quad) is also day to day after playing just one snap at Atlanta, that being the opening kickoff.

Other Dolphins who sustained ailments during the Falcons game — safeties Minkah Fitzpatrick (hand) and Rasul Douglas (shoulder) — should be good for the Ravens game.

McDaniel wasn’t exactly clear on whether Tagovailoa would receive medication this week, saying, “There’s medicines delivered by people that are responsible for that.”

McDaniel said of the players eligible to come off the physically-unable-to-perform list or injured reserve lists — guard-center Liam Eichenberg (undisclosed), right tackle Austin Jackson (toe), center Andrew Meyer (elbow), kicker Jason Sanders (hip) or cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. (hamstring) — none will return this week.

Not season ticket price increase, food credit offered

The Dolphins started their 2026 season ticket renewal campaign Monday and there’s good news — no ticket price increases, some tickets will actually decrease, and some fans will get a food and beverage credit.

All 2026 season tickets will remain at 2025 prices, and some select seats will get a modest price decrease. Additionally, some club seat season ticket holders will get a $250 food and beverage credit for the season.

Some would contend the season tickets staying at the same price reflects good awareness on the part of Dolphins owner Steve Ross and the entire organization. Ross has been accused by a segment of fans as not caring as much about the Dolphins because he’s got the tennis tournament and F1 race as revenue-producing events on the Hard Rock Stadium grounds.

However, if the Dolphins aren’t raising prices and are offering a food credit you could contend that it reflects Ross wants to retain and take care of his core sports fans.

RBs combination serves Dolphins well

The Dolphins used three running backs against Atlanta — starter De’Von Achane (18 carries, 67 yards) and reserves Ollie Gordon II (10 carries, 46 yards) and Jaylen Wright (nine carries, 28 yards) — while totaling 141 yards rushing on 37 carries.

McDaniel said the variety worked to the Dolphins advantage as they had 37 runs and 32 passes.

“I think the biggest upside is the different ball carriers defenders have to tackle,” McDaniel said. “I think that’s underrated. You have a little change up in just body makeup, size, conviction. It’s just a different target. It’s a difference in speed. It’s a different tackle in combination with having the player with the ball in his hands being as fresh as he can possibly be.”

Toughest part of schedule approaching, but . . .

The Dolphins now start what was thought to be the toughest part of their schedule this week as they host Baltimore (2-5) on Thursday night, host Buffalo (5-2) on Nov. 9 and then play Washington (3-4) in Madrid, Spain on Nov. 16.

The Dolphins have struggled with all three teams recently. They’re 1-1 against Baltimore in the McDaniel era, winning 42-38 in a rousing comeback in 2022, and being routed 56-19 in 2023.

The Dolphins are 1-7 against Buffalo in the McDaniel era and riding a seven-game losing streak including a 31-21 loss at Buffalo earlier this season.

The Dolphins haven’t played Washington in the McDaniel era but they were handled by the Commanders during joint practice in 2024, quarterback Jayden Daniels’ rookie season, especially when Daniels carved up the defense during a red-zone drill.

It should be noted Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson (hamstring) has missed the previous three games but is expected back for Thursday’s game. Daniels (knee), who has missed two games this season due to a knee injury, is scheduled to miss Monday night’s game against Kansas City but could return for the Commanders’ Week 9 game against Seattle on Nov. 2.
