MIAMI GARDENS — The Miami Dolphins signed cornerback A.J. Green from the Los Angeles Rams practice squad on Wednesday and placed cornerback JuJu Brents (foot) on the injured reserve list.
Green, 27, has made two starts in 36 career games. The 6-foot-2, 199-pound Green has totaled 26 tackles, two interceptions, seven passes defended and two recovered fumbles. He has 14 special teams tackles.
Green entered the league in 2020 with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent from Oklahoma State. In January 2024, he signed with Minnesota, and after being released by the Vikings in August, Green signed with the Los Angeles Rams.
Green must be placed on the Dolphins’ 53-man roster because he was signed from a practice squad.
Brents was injured in Sunday’s 16-13 overtime victory against Washington in Madrid, Spain. Brents appeared in seven games for the Dolphins, making two starts, and totaling 14 tackles, one pass defended and one recovered fumble.
Brents, who entered the league as a 2023 second-round pick by Indianapolis, has endured a slew of injuries in his brief career. He was developing into a dependable defender for the Dolphins after taking the starting spot held by cornerback Rasul Douglas (ankle/foot).
Coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that the Dolphins were hoping Brents wouldn’t be sidelined for the season after having surgery, but apparently he won’t return. He’s expected to make a full recovery for next season.
The Dolphins (4-7), who have won back-to-back games and three of their last four, have their bye this week. They’re back in action on Nov. 30 when they host New Orleans.
