Durham Bulls outslug Norfolk Tides in a game with 26 hits, 7 home runs

Tyler O’Neill and Gary Sanchez had hits in their MLB rehab assignments, but four Durham players had multiple hits as the Bulls outslugged the Norfolk Tides 17-9 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Wednesday night.

The Tides (58-79) and Bulls (79-59) combined for 25 hits and seven home runs.

Durham’s Coco Montes went 4- or 5 with a double, home run, three RBIs, and four runs scored, and Cameron Misner was 3 for 6 with a homer and three RBIs.

O’Neill, in his second rehab game, was 1 for 4 with a solo home run, while Sanchez had two hits, including a home run, as he returned to the Tides for a second rehab stint.

All ten Tides hitters recorded at least one hit, with Jordyn Adams (2 for 5, 2 RBIs) joining Sánchez as the only other Tide to record multiple hits. Silas Ardoin hit his fourth home run and drew three walks.

Norfolk’s German, the Baltimore Orioles’ 14th-ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline, pitch three innings, allowing five runs (four earned ) on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts in his first career Triple-A start.

The teams continue their series Thursday with a 6:35 p.m. start. RHP Cameron Weston (4-8, 4.80) starts for Norfolk against RHP Forrest Whitley (5-3, 2.10).
