The Durham Bulls scored six runs in the first four innings, roughing up starter Carson Ragsdale, in an 8-3 victory over the Norfolk Tides on Tuesday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Ragsdale, acquired last month off waivers, entered Tuesday with a 1.33 ERA over over 20.1 innings. But the Bulls (78-59) scored six earned runs on seven hits and four walks over Ragsdale’s three-plus innings.
Cameron Misner delivered the key hit with a three-run home run in the third inning.
Norfolk’s José Barrero hit his 10th home run of the season, while Enrique Bradfield Jr. scored on a wild pitch and Tyler O’Neill scored on a hit by Vimael Machín.
O’Neill went 1 for 4 with a run in his first game on a rehabilitation assignment with Norfolk. He is recovering from inflammation in his right wrist.
The teams continue their series with a 6:35 p.m. game Wednesday. RHP Nestor German is set to make his Triple-A debut for Norfolk, while RHP Yoniel Curet (0-3, 4.56) is the probable starter for Durham.
