Everything you need to know for ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ before Hurricanes host Gators

For the first time since 2020, the No. 4 Hurricanes are hosting ESPN’s “College GameDay.”

Although the football team is staying focused on playing the rival Gators on Saturday night, fans are excited for the national spotlight to be on Miami.

“The University of Miami is proud to welcome ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ to our campus,” UM president Joe Echevarria said in a press release. “This is a moment for our entire community — our students, alumni, faculty, and fans across the nation. There’s no better stage than Miami, and no better day to showcase the spirit and pride of The U. We look forward to filling the campus with energy and showing the nation what it means to be part of this extraordinary university.”

Here is everything attendees need to know for the “College GameDay” experience:

Where: Lakeside Patio at the University of Miami.

The main stage will be on the north side of the patio between the Donna E. Shalala Student Center and the Norman A. Whitten University Center Pool. There will be overflow viewing areas around Lake Osceola and the Rock Plaza.

Additionally, the ACC Network will broadcast “ACC PM” from the Foote Green from 5-7 p.m. on Friday and its Saturday pregame show “ACC Huddle” from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

When: ESPN’s “College GameDay” airs from 9 a.m. to noon, but fans can start lining up earlier.

The “Pit” near the stage opens at 6:30 a.m. Fans can begin lining up at 5 a.m.

Rules for the “Pit”: Per the show’s website: “No bags (of any kind), food and drinks, pens, pencils, markers or dry erase boards and signs on sticks. Throwing objects is strictly prohibited in the pit.”

Parking: The Levante and Pavia garages (pink garages on the online parking map) will open at 4:45 a.m. They can be accessed via Merrick Drive.

Overflow parking can be found in Mahoney-Pearson (teal garage on the online map) through the Stanford Drive entrance.

Signs: Fans can bring signs to “College GameDay” but they must abide by the show’s regulations: “No vulgar signs, .com, .net, .org, political or religious signs are allowed. For fans entering the pit, signs cannot be on poles or oversized. All signs brought to Saturday’s taping will be inspected before entry and must abide by College GameDay’s sign policies or will be removed,” according to the show’s website.

Details: The Hurricanes have been featured on “College GameDay” 25 times, going 16-9 in those games. A UM game was last featured last year when UM played Cal on the road. Miami last hosted “College GameDay” on Sept. 26, 2020.

How to watch: While “College GameDay” will air on ESPN, the game will be televised on ABC at 7:30 p.m. The Hurricanes (3-0) are favored by 7 1/2 points over the struggling Gators (1-2).
