Fall arts preview: Your guide to Lehigh Valley festivals, art exhibits, music, theater and more

Summer has officially ended and the leaves are about to change to fall’s fiery colors.

The cooler season brings new art exhibits, festivals, concerts, dance and theater that will meet everyone’s tastes.

Here’s a preview of this fall’s must-see art shows, events, and more.

ART

Allentown Art Museum: Cutting Edge: “Inventive Nineteenth-century Quilts from the Collection of Arlan and Pat Christ.” The 33 quilts in this extraordinary exhibition are a riot of color and pattern celebrating the creativity of quilters and illustrating how personal vision and innovation enrich tradition, through Oct. 26; “German Expressionism: Anxiety and Arcadia,” prints from the Museum’s collection reflect the emotional intensity surrounding the First World War, through Oct. 26; Selections from the Photography Collection: Food, a Kodachrome image of an Allentown kitchen from 1951 is one of the photographs in this exhibition that focuses on dining out (and in), food prep, restaurants, and more, through March 8, 31 N. Hand crafted quilts are on display Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at the Allentown Art Museum in Allentown as part of the “Cutting Edge: Inventive 19th Century Quilts” exhibit due to open to the public on Saturday, Aug. 9. 2025.
