The Tabb field hockey team’s consecutive victory streak has reached 107, and as the playoffs begin Monday the Tigers take aim at continuing another streak.
Tabb is the top seed in the Class 3 Region A Tournament and hosts a quarterfinal as the quest for a fifth straight Virginia High School League state title begins.
The Tigers are 17-0 this season and have allowed just three goals all season — two against Bishop O’Connell and one vs. Colonial Forge in the opening two games of the season. Since then, Tabb has outscored opponents 119-0 and ripped through the Bay Rivers District and a host of nondistrict foes.
Tabb’s winning streak now trails only the J.J. Kelly High girls tennis team, with 128 consecutive wins, in the VHSL Record Book.
Tabb has won 11 state championships under coach Wendy Wilson.
Great Bridge (Class 5 Region A), Maury (Class 5 Region B) and Gloucester (Class 4 Region A) also own No. 1 region seeds, while Norfolk Academy is the top seed in the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools Tournament.
