Three teams are seeking to repeat as state champs as the Virginia High School League and Virginia Independent Schools field hockey tournaments begin with quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Nansemond River (Class 5) and Tabb (Class 3) won VHSL titles and Norfolk Academy (Division I) claimed a VISAA crown last season. All three host quarterfinal games Tuesday.
Tabb (20-0) has run its consecutive victory streak to 110 and is vying for a fifth consecutive state championship.
