BOYNTON BEACH — A fifth man police say was involved in a shooting at a “Peace in the Hood” event in July at Sara Sims Park was arrested Friday.
Boynton Beach Police said Travonte Edwards, 21, was arrested with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Edwards faces felony counts of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and firing a gun in public or on residential property.
In September, the Boynton Beach Police Department said it was seeking tips that would lead to the arrest of Edwards and another suspect, 19-year-old Tevens Bradley. It’s unclear whether Bradley, wanted on felony counts of improper exhibition of a firearm, is in law enforcement custody or still at large.
The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. July 5, according to police. Approximately 400 to 500 people were in attendance at the unsanctioned event at the park.
Boynton Police said the victims included a woman who suffered a fractured leg after being hit in the hip, another woman was shot in the femur and a third woman was shot in the knee.
Jamarion Kelyon Petty, 19; Kenneth Hollis, 25; Javon Johnson, 19; and D’Andre Leger, 20, were all arrested previously on charges related to the shooting.
