A firefighter suffered a minor injury battling a warehouse fire in New Haven on Sunday that halted railroad traffic.
The fire broke out at a warehouse at 80 Middletown Ave. where crews responded around 8:30 a.m. on the report of a structure fire, according to Dan Coughlin, assistant chief of the New Haven Fire Department.
Coughlin said the warehouse was burning as well as salt that was stored in plastic containers. He said crews had a hard time accessing the blaze because the salt containers were stacked high and began falling at one point.
One firefighter suffered a minor neck injury during the response, according to Coughlin.
Crews had to temporarily stop railroad traffic to cross a set of tracks while responding to the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
