A Shelton man who previously worked as a preschool teacher and a nanny received a 24-year federal prison for producing and sharing child sexual abuse images and videos.
Ross DeLibro, 54, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to 288 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He previously pleaded guilty to production of child pornography and possession of child pornography on May 15.
Court records show that, in March 2024, a detective assigned to the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit started investigating the sharing of child sex abuse images and videos over “a peer-to-peer file sharing network.”
According to federal officials, the investigation revealed that an internet protocol address assigned to DeLibro’s home in Shelton was reportedly used to share child sex abuse videos.
Investigators also learned that, DeLibro had a degree in early childhood education worked as a preschool teacher and in-home nanny for several families in Connecticut going back to at least 2007. “He solicited in-home nanny business through a popular and legitimate employment website,” investigators alleged.
On May 1, 2024, investigators seized DeLibro’s Apple MacBook Air and iPhone as well as an external hard drive, and other items during a court-authorized search of his residence, court records show.
“Analysis of the seized items revealed image and video files depicting male children being sexually abused, including two images in which DeLibro appearsto be engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a toddler,” according to investigators.
DeLibro has been detained since his arrest on related state charges on June 11, 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan thanked the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Ansonia/Milford for its cooperation in investigating and prosecuting the case.
