HOOVER, Ala. — A former sports reporter for a TV station in Alabama was found dead in her home Tuesday, the suspected victim of a murder-suicide.
Former WBRC Channel 6 sports reporter Christina Chambers was found dead of a gunshot wound. Chambers’ husband, Johnny Rimes, also was found dead. The couple’s 3-year-old child was found in the home unharmed.
A news release from the Hoover Police Department says officers were called to the home just after 9 a.m. Tuesday after a family member found Chambers and Rimes unresponsive.
Both Chambers and Rimes were pronounced dead at the scene. The news release did not offer more details in regard to the shooting.
WBRC reports Chambers joined the station in 2015. She was known for her sideline coverage of high school football and also as an avid runner who competed in marathons.

“She was one of the sweetest, most loving people that I know,” WBRC anchor Jeh Jeh Pruitt said. “She was relentless with running, loving her son, and loving life. I am glad I got a chance to hug and tell her I love her a week ago at the Super 7. I am so sorry for her family, the Chambers and Thompson families, and her WBRC Family.”
Chambers left her full-time role in 2021 but continued to help with high school football coverage on a part-time basis, WBRC reports.
Chambers previously worked at WAKA in Montgomery, Ala., and at WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia. She also worked for Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta. She also worked in corporate communications for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, WBRC reports.
