FSU football player Ethan Pritchard of Sanford shot Sunday night

Former Sanford Seminole star Ethan Pritchard, a freshman linebacker at FSU, was the victim in a shooting Sunday night, as confirmed by a source close to the situation.

There was no word on his condition at this time.

The Gadsden County sheriff’s office put out a statement that a man had been shot in Havana, a town just outside of Tallahassee. The statement did not identify the victim. Pritchard is believed to have family living in or near Havana. Pritchard’s mother, who passed away about two months after Ethan was born, attended FSU and is believed to have been from nearby Havana area.

Pritchard signed with FSU in December  2024 and enrolled in January. The coaches have been pleased with his progress but he did not play in the Seminoles’ season-opening 31-17 victory over Alabama.

Pritchard was a standout linebacker at Seminole High and was the No. 7-ranked prospect in the Sentinel’s 2025 Central Florida Super60.
