Golf cart vs. truck crash leaves one dead in Central Florida, FHP says

A crash between a golf cart and a pickup truck in Brevard County on Monday night left one person dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to a crash at State Road A1A and Normandy Place on the barrier island south of Melbourne Beach, according to an FHP crash report.

A 16-year-old Melbourne Beach boy was driving on A1A southbound in a Chevrolet Silverado approaching Normandy Place, when he ran into the back of a golf cart also traveling south that a witness said had no active lights, the report stated.

Impact from the crash sent the golf cart driven by a 68-year-old Floridana Beach man off the roadway, and onto the shoulder where the golf cart overturned ejecting the driver.

First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
